The activity was set up in 1967, and was started as a wine cellar and tasting area. In 1984 it became a restaurant, under the name of Ristorante Enoteca Giovanni.
Giovanni welcomes his guests either as a Chef and a Sommelier, because, as he says… “Today a restaurant where the owner is not directly involved in the kitchen work will not play a major role in its activity”
The menu includes either land and sea food, and both of them share the same priorities. Ingredients are selected day by day, thanks to Giovanni’s personal presence on the local market. As he puts it… “The geografical area where we are located is particularly rich in fresh, first grade ingredients, either fish or meat“. The hill all arount Montecatini offer wonderful mushrooms, and nearby San Miniato is an inexaustible “mine” of one of the most appreciated products of the Italian cuisine in the world: truffles.
The wine cellar has offered for many years a first quality, professional service, and Giovanni’s customers appreciated this value. In particular, many foreign visitors have become regular guests, with a strong passion for good food and valuable wine, and they usually reserve a table before coming to Montecatini
That’s why the restaurant can boast a very good staff speaking english, french, german and spanish.
The menu is available in english, german, french, russian and japanese.
Enoteca Giovanni has its own space in the main touristic and gastronomical guides such as Michelin, Gambero Rosso, De Agostini, Espresso, Alice, Veronelli and Touring.
A whole restaurant room is available for smokers (see photo above).
